Balance your Figure

This Christmas balance your figure with padded shoulders this party season.

For pear shaped people this is brilliant, your hips are balanced and you immediately have a defined waist.

Knitwear to Flatter

Who is looking at last year’s knitwear? This is an essential part of any wardrobe. Warm, practical, comfy and beautifully stylish are to be found this season with a full range of colours, shapes and styles to suit.

PETITE

You always have to consider your overall body shape and your petite stature.

Before buying:

Look at a piece of knitwear for example that is going to lengthen you in some way and there’s some great new designs out there for you to choose.

Planet Tab Gathered Cardigan

The green open cardigan looks like it’s in 2 parts with a few buttons at the bottom, the sleeves are a great length as often they are found to be far too long and will look drowning for your shape.
The green cardigan would look great with a black jersey top underneath in a different length sleeve.

Precis Petite Cable Knit Cardigan, Charcoal

The neck line on this cable knit cardigan draws people eyes to the neck line. Great with the purple and pink blends around.

Fenn Wright Manson petite half-sleeve cardigan is high necked and large buttons all the way down adding length to the eye.

Open cardigans are great worn with heels like the red one shown from Planet.

Kaliko knitwear is accentuating the neckline area to benefit you.

The East Zina black cardigan has elegant neckline detail and is a stylish piece to anyone’s wardrobe and it’s at a discounted price!

Also:

Avoid anything too bulky or too long.
Graduated length is great in fooling the eye into believing you are taller than you actually are.
Keep to neat and fitted styles.
Vertical lines are generally better than horizontal

MENSWEAR AUTUMN STYLE

Filed under: Autumn/Winter 09, Fashion, Shopping, Wardrobe Makeover — Tags: , , — Michelle @ 12:59 am

A chunky knit to a statement coat….just 2 trends that may work for your wardrobe this autumn to combine tailoring and different textures.

Menswear is as important to me and has been seen to be getting stronger each year as Ladieswear.

WHAT TO BUY?

What would I recommend for a winter coat?

Think of this purchase as an investment to be worn at work or special occasions and will last for future seasons. There is so much choice out there from military-style to a mixed wool classic.

When you try on the coat, the coat should be flattering to your height falling just around the knee. A loose style generally is more flattering to your trouser.

What would I recommend for a strong trend piece?

The catwalk saw the ‘chunky knit’ a strong trend. Large necks, sleeves and collars. A hand-knitted look (and it’s not like a relative would knit you years ago)…..worn right, a masculine, yet sexy look. So as not to appear chunky, make sure the length is short and another idea depending on the style, layer with a long shirt underneath to lengthen and flatter your silhouette.

What colours? I only ever see black or grey!

Everyone needs a bit of colour in their life. Look outside and nature is colour…….Green is everywhere and is one of the seasonal on-trend shades and blends well with black and grey.

Check out different high street stores and your favourite designers.

Autumn-Winter Choices

Keep your MUST-HAVE items simple!

A question often put to me when a new season comes upon us is:

What should I buy to update my wardrobe?

This season can be quite confusing to people, I think it’s great but there is a great quantity of different trends to confuse a lot of people and those trends do not suit every shape and size!

Are you looking for a new winter coat?

Should you go for belted, double breasted, funnel necks or wide lapels?

If you are top heavy with a short waist then none of the above are really for you and would not be a good investment.

I adore the 1940s influences around in dresses and suits.

The suit jackets are quite short, very fitted with waistlines clinched in and I think personally a lot of people are able to adapt this look to suit them.

Remember whilst shopping, retailers whoever they are, are influenced by trends from the catwalk.

Don’t Despair.

I can offer you a WARDROBE MAKEOVER service costing you less than a new outfit would. I will re-acquaint you with what you already have.

I will show you how to combine your existing items creating completely new outfits.

Pieces collecting dust may well be worth getting dry cleaned. Clothes pushed at the back of the wardrobe perhaps need a repair that you never got round.

Let me show you how to accessorise in the right way to save you money and look bang up to date for your shape without breaking the bank.
